The Chosen is back in the spotlight, and this time it’s not just about the story. A new Season 6 teaser shows Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane telling a group of angelic warriors to stand down as he’s arrested. The angels, styled with weapons and wardrobe inspired by indigenous American cultures, set off a firestorm of reactions after the clip hit X on November 1, 2026.
Critics slammed the choice as“forced diversity,”and some linked the imagery to LDS theology about Nephites, an ancient Hebrew group the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says traveled to the Americas, a claim with no historical record behind it. On the other side, plenty of viewers celebrated the creative swing, pointing out that The Chosen has built its fanbase on bold artistic retellings of biblical moments.
Season 6 premieres on Prime Video later this month, and the timing of the backlash is hard to ignore. Love it or hate it, the conversation is putting the show in front of millions more eyes. So what do you think: is this artistic license, or did the teaser go too far? Drop your take in the comments.
