At the London premiere of his new film Digger, he told BuzzFeed U.K. that it would be“amazing to work with her on anything,”calling her a brilliant writer and adding that she could direct feature films. That is not the vague, polite answer celebrities usually give about each other, and fans noticed immediately.
The friendship is genuinely documented too. Cruise attended Swift’s July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden, then sat with Swift at the Chiefs-Broncos game on September 14, where he said she schooled him on football. On The Tonight Show he called her a genius and the couple magical, while Kelce recalled the wedding as a magical, intimate night on his New Heights podcast. Two massive names, zero drama, just mutual respect.
Nothing has been announced, of course. But Cruise opened the door in a very public way, and Swift has been steadily moving toward directing for years now.
