A July 14, 2026 TikTok from creator @eriniveson has pulled in more than 8.7 million views, and it’s not a dance trend. In the video, she walks through what she calls“downright cruel”punishments from her childhood: siblings lined up when something broke while she took the blame for her younger sisters, regular room searches, and privacy treated as“a privilege, not a right.”
She also says she handled most of the cooking, cleaning, and laundry growing up. A friend’s parents nicknamed her Cinderella, and she claims her stepdad once threw away her folded laundry and her hair straightener on trash day because her room wasn’t clean. Corporal punishment, she says, was routine, and when she told her stepdad it no longer hurt, he switched to a different paddle. She says her 12th birthday slumber party ended early after he screamed at her friends. The Daily Dot could not independently verify the events described.
The video has sparked a much bigger conversation online about where discipline stops and something else begins, plus questions about corporal punishment laws and school policies. Erin says she’s been through extensive therapy and can now discuss it without it getting to her. What’s the strictest rule you had growing up, and looking back, was it fair?
