A TikTok creator is going viral after sharing why she reported her therapist to the State of Oregon, and the details are hard to forget. According to @kay73322, she spent six months in therapy during the worst depression of her life, but her therapist frequently canceled sessions. One full 40-minute session, she says, was spent discussing her love of strip clubs after she mentioned a trip to Europe. Another session was reportedly half spent listening to the therapist vent about her boss while smoking.
The breaking point came after a session about body insecurities left her sobbing. Her mom encouraged her to call the therapy office, and the office advised her to report the therapist to the state. She later learned that no notes had been taken on the trauma she had discussed. A commenter who says they’ve been a therapist for over 20 years wrote,“horrified,”and plenty of people online are sharing their own therapy stories in response.
The Daily Dot could not independently verify her account, but the wider conversation is worth having. Therapy is supposed to feel safe, and knowing when to switch providers or speak up about unprofessional conduct matters. Have you ever had a therapist or doctor appointment that went completely off the rails? Tell us in the comments.
