TikToker Married Nearly 14 Years Says Constant Excitement Isn't the Key to Marriage

Scroll through relationship content for five minutes and you’d think every healthy marriage needs nonstop romance, spontaneous trips and daily deep conversations. One TikTok creator who says she’s been married for nearly 14 years is calling that out, and her video has racked up around 263,100 views and 48,900 likes.

In the clip posted Oct. 12, she explains that marriage includes both exciting periods and completely ordinary days filled with exhaustion, sick children and chores. Her take is blunt: that’s not a bad marriage. She credits her own relationship’s endurance to not treating uneventful or financially difficult seasons as emergencies, and to both partners welcoming the ways each of them changes over time. Her standout line:“It’s about finding somebody that you actually wanna keep meeting.”

She also offers a filter worth stealing for more than just marriage advice: don’t take relationship tips from people whose relationships you wouldn’t want for yourself. Commenters responded with their own marriage stories and even debated whether AI chatbots should weigh in on arguments. So we want to know: would you take marriage advice from someone whose marriage you’d never want? Tell us in the comments.
