A tragic story out of Oklahoma has the internet reeling. TikTok influencer and hairstylist Sara Gilson, 43, was allegedly killed by her estranged husband Shawn Duffey in a murder-suicide last week. The horrifying details emerged when a child from the home placed a 911 call on July 23, where Gilson could be heard screaming and crying in the background. According to the dispatcher, a loud bang was heard before officers arrived on scene.
Just two weeks before her death, Gilson went viral on TikTok accusing Duffey of pedophilia, involving her 15-year-old daughter. In the now-deleted video, she said“I wish I was joking.”Court records show a protective order had been filed against Duffey on July 10 after he allegedly kissed and touched the teenager. Despite those efforts, police found both Gilson and Duffey dead at the home.
This story raises hard questions about domestic violence, the effectiveness of protective orders, and the role social media plays in exposing abuse. Gilson spoke out publicly, she took legal action, and she still lost her life. What more could she have done? Share your thoughts in the comments.
