The Gilded Age is officially getting into the holiday music business. HBO’s period drama is releasing its first Christmas album, Voices of the Gilded Age: The Christmas Album, on Nov. 6 through Concord Theatricals Recordings, just days after the show’s season 4 premiere on Nov. 1.
The project was conceived and led by Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Desmond Child, who wrote two original songs for the album. The rest of the track list features holiday classics performed by the show’s deep bench of Broadway talent, including Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Kelli O’Hara, Donna Murphy and Laura Benanti. Child described the album as a tribute to the Christmas songs and legendary artists that shaped him.
The first single is already out:“The World Needs Some Christmas,”performed by Ben Ahlers. With the show returning and the full album landing days later, November is shaping up to be a very Gilded holiday season. Which cast member’s track are you hitting play on first?
