Bobb’e J. Thompson, who played Stanley on Disney Channel’s“That’s So Raven,”was sentenced Thursday to 30 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon. The 30-year-old was arrested in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, last year after officers clocked his vehicle at 104 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone.

A search of his backpack during that stop turned up a stolen, loaded .40-caliber handgun and marijuana, according to federal prosecutors. Thompson’s criminal history includes a 2020 battery conviction, a 2020 assault conviction and a 2022 firearm conviction. In the federal system there is no parole, so he will serve the full 30 months, followed by three years of supervised release.

The sentence puts two upcoming film projects in question and has reignited online conversation about child stars and the paths their careers take after the cameras stop rolling. Thompson has also drawn attention in recent years for public allegations he made against Tracy Morgan in 2024.

What do you think: does a Disney Channel childhood change how you see a story like this, or does the record speak for itself? Sound off in the comments.
