Taylor Swift’s“Patient Zero”debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart with 34.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending Oct. 1. The track, a bonus cut from The Life of a Showgirl, gives her a 12th No. 1 on the chart, second only to Drake’s 22. It also arrived at No. 1 on the Hot 100, her 16th time topping that list.
The streaming chart is basically a Swift showcase right now. She holds four of the top five spots, with Ella Langley’s“Choosin’Texas”the lone outsider at No. 2. And the album itself is back on top, with The Life of a Showgirl returning to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It’s the biggest single-week U.S. streaming total since two Drake songs pulled it off back in May.
So the Swift vs. Drake chart rivalry is very much alive, and bonus tracks are somehow doing No. 1 numbers. Which version of“Patient Zero”are you playing on repeat, and do you think Taylor eventually catches Drake’s record? Sound off in the comments.
