Taylor Swift gave fans the ultimate surprise Friday with“The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,”a deluxe edition packing four new songs:“Patient Zero,”“Cleveland!,”“Pink Clouding”and“Babylon.”She wrote the tracks in Sweden with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback right after the original album’s record-breaking first week.
The standout is“Cleveland!,”which shouts out Travis Kelce’s hometown and their July 3 wedding with the lyric:“He already took me to Cleveland / And showed me The Heights! / So hate all you like / This is the love of my life.”Meanwhile,“Pink Clouding”is being called an apologetic villain song,“Patient Zero”has fans speculating about its subject, and“Babylon”connects to the recurring theme from“a cowboy like me”on“Folklore.”The deluxe edition brings the album’s total to 16 tracks.
