Taylor Swift is officially the youngest person ever inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. At 36, she joined George Strait, Lyle Lovett, Shawn Camp, Bruce Channel, Lee Thomas Miller, and posthumous honoree J.I. Allison at Monday night’s ceremony. Swift also noted that her self-titled debut album recently turned 20, a detail that got the room buzzing.

The night’s most quotable moment came from Strait, who received the Career Maker Award and flipped the meaning entirely.“I think they got this turned around, because they made my career,”he said of the songwriters.“I didn’t make theirs.”Lee Thomas Miller added a more serious note, warning against technology erasing human songwriters, while Lainey Wilson, Jamey Johnson, Kathy Mattea, and Emmylou Harris performed.

The generational mix on that stage tells its own story: the biggest pop star in the world, a country legend, and a songwriter’s songwriter, all tracing back to the same craft. Nashville’s fundamentals, as Swift put it, made all of their careers possible. So of course the night ended with everyone remembering why the songs come first.

Which Taylor Swift song do you think deserves a spot in a songwriting Hall of Fame? Tell us below.
