Taylor Swift has extended her own record for the most No. 1s in Pop Airplay chart history.“I Knew It, I Knew You”climbed two spots to the top of the Sept. 26-dated chart, giving Swift her 16th Pop Airplay leader and further separating her from every other artist in the format’s history. Bruno Mars ranks second all time with 13 Pop Airplay No. 1s, while Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Katy Perry and Rihanna are tied at 11 apiece. Swift also holds the record for the most cumulative weeks at No. 1 on Pop Airplay, now at 52.
The single carries a bit of Hollywood magic with it. It comes from Toy Story 5 and was inspired by Jessie, the franchise’s cowgirl star. The track has been on an absolute tear across the charts, having already become Swift’s 15th Hot 100 No. 1, her ninth Radio Songs No. 1 and her 16th Adult Pop Airplay No. 1 before taking the top spot at pop radio.
One note for chart followers: all Sept. 26-dated Billboard charts update Wednesday, Sept. 23, a day later than the usual Tuesday refresh, shifted for Yom Kippur. Which Taylor Swift chart record do you think falls next? Let us know in the comments.
