Dakota Johnson hosted SNL for the third time this weekend, and she brought a very famous friend along for the ride. During her monologue, Johnson introduced Taylor Swift as her“literal therapist,”and the two joked about Johnson showing up at Swift’s place weekly with an empty wine bottle to vent about dating. Swift’s response?“I’m not your therapist, actually.”The crowd ate it up.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Later in the show, Swift returned with a birthday cake for Johnson during the finale. And then she joined Turnstile on stage as the Baltimore hardcore band closed out the night. Turnstile performed“Birds,”“I Care”and“Dull,”marking the first time a hardcore act has been the musical guest on SNL since Fear in 1981. The band is riding major momentum after Grammy wins for“Birds”and“Never Enough.”

Swift and Johnson’s friendship goes back years, with Johnson even appearing in Swift’s“Patient Zero”music video. This SNL episode was a perfect blend of pop culture friendship goals and a historic moment for rock music on television.
