Taylor Swift isn’t done with“The Life of a Showgirl”era just yet. On Wednesday morning (Sept. 23), she announced“The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,”a deluxe edition featuring four newly recorded songs, with lead track“Patient Zero”arriving Friday (Sept. 25). The announcement came less than a day after she teased the song, sending fans into an all-night theory spiral.
The new tracks were written in Sweden with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, and Swift says they exist because of the fans. After the original album scored the biggest first week in history with 4.002 million album-equivalent units, she went back into the studio out of gratitude. The original project also logged 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced two Hot 100 chart-toppers, so“The Encore”is basically a victory lap with new music attached.
“Patient Zero”will be available with acoustic and piano versions, each with its own cover art, and preorders are open now. If the original run is any indication, this drop is going to dominate every playlist, group chat, and car ride for weeks. Which of the four new songs are you most hyped to hear? Let us know in the comments.
