Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s $5 million lakefront mansion in Bratenahl, Ohio is turning into a full-blown neighborhood drama. At a village planning meeting, residents reportedly called the couple“absentee”homeowners and a“tremendous blow”to the area’s peace and quiet. The complaints center on the couple’s plans for a six-foot fence and a row of evergreen trees, which neighbors say could damage sewer lines and disrupt the landscape.
The numbers are wild. Next-door neighbor Katherine Bolton warned that 50 evergreen trees on her sewer line could lead to a $75,000 repair bill. Neighbor Chuck Bauernschmidt raised concerns about clear-cut shrubbery and claimed deer are impaling themselves on the planned fence. Meanwhile, the couple’s planner, Jacob Kutz, said the pair is making a real effort to be considerate. The Architectural Review Board approved the six-foot fence in September and signed off on front landscaping this week, with a third plan still to be presented.
It’s the classic clash between privacy and small-town life, and it’s playing out in a village where everyone knows exactly whose sewer connects to what. Swift and Kelce haven’t commented, and their reps didn’t respond to requests for comment.
