Taylor Hanson's Dancing With The Stars Debut Is Peak Millennial Nostalgia

Taylor Hanson officially traded the mic for dancing shoes. The Hanson frontman made his Dancing With The Stars debut Tuesday night on the season 35 premiere, performing a Quickstep to Billy Joel’s“Tell Her About It”with pro partner Britt Stewart. The 43-year-old was described as confident and light on his feet, and honestly, the internet was not ready for“MMMBop”energy in ballroom form.

If you grew up in the late 90s, this one hits. Hanson topped the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1997 with“MMMBop,”and Taylor is still out here representing Tulsa with his brothers Isaac and Zac cheering him on. But the debut wasn’t just about nostalgia. Britt Stewart praised Taylor’s dedication, saying he told her at their first meeting he would do whatever it took to succeed, even sleeping at the dance studio if necessary.

That kind of commitment is rare for a celebrity contestant, and it’s got a lot of people wondering how far Taylor can go this season. A strong Quickstep in week one is a promising start.
