Talking Heads fans just got the news they never saw coming. All four members — David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison, and Tina Weymouth — reunited for a Q&A hosted by Este Haim, and the occasion is a big one: the launch of SiriusXM’s brand-new Talking Heads Radio. The station arrives Thursday, October 1, bringing music, stories from the band, and guest DJ sets from artists like Adam Clayton and Trey Anastasio.
The reunion carries real weight, because this lineup rarely assembles. The band formed over 50 years ago and released their first albums in the late 1970s, and before TIFF 2023, they hadn’t made a public appearance together in more than two decades. During the Q&A, they opened up about their creative process and what always set them apart. Byrne said he tries not to look back too much but is“very proud of everything we did,”while Frantz noted they“always set out to create new challenges.”
You can catch the Q&A at 12pm ET on October 1, and it’s available on the SiriusXM app. The new channel is a deep dive into one of new wave’s most influential catalogs, made by the people who built it.
So we want to know: what’s the first Talking Heads song you’re playing when the station goes live? Tell us in the comments.
