Talking Heads just announced their first authorized book written and curated by all four members.“New Feeling”arrives May 18, 2027, timed to the 50th anniversary of the band’s debut album,“Talking Heads: 77.”David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison each contribute essays tracing the journey from Rhode Island School of Design through CBGB, the hit singles, and Jonathan Demme’s“Stop Making Sense.”

The 368-page collection is packed with material fans have never had access to: handwritten lyrics, annotated concert playlists, album cover sketches, film storyboards, and personal photos that haven’t left the band’s archive in more than 40 years. Abrams Books calls it an“upbeat, offbeat, over-the-top celebration,”and the guest essay lineup backs that up, with Debbie Harry, Lorde, Questlove, Dave Eggers, Karl Ove Knausgaard and Jeff Bridges all contributing.

It’s a rare joint project from a band whose members have kept their distance over the years, which makes the archive access feel like a genuine event rather than a cash-in. Pre-orders are open now ahead of the May 2027 release. Which part are you most excited to flip through first: the lyrics, the“Stop Making Sense”storyboards, or those unseen photos?
