Talking Heads are opening the vault. The band just announced“New Feeling,”their first-ever authorized book, arriving May 18, 2027, through Abrams Books, right as they mark 50 years of their debut album“Talking Heads: 77.”The 400-page coffee table book was created with all four members, David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison, and it’s loaded with unseen archive material, handwritten lyrics, early album artwork, essays, and hundreds of photographs.

The book follows the band’s full arc: their origins at the Rhode Island School of Design, their breakout years at CBGB, their rise to household-name status, and the era of the 1984 concert film“Stop Making Sense.”Jerry Harrison noted that the book includes handwritten lyrics and private photos that haven’t left their archive in over 40 years. Limited edition variants sweeten the deal, with a signed photo and a 19-piece wooden puzzle built directly into the cover.

For longtime fans and newer listeners who discovered the band through“Stop Making Sense,”this is a rare, fully authorized look behind the curtain of one of rock’s most influential groups. Which piece of Talking Heads history would you want to see first? Tell us in the comments.
