According to a new study from baby brand Nuby, those names are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Researchers analyzed 30 years of UK naming data and found that Courtney dropped a staggering 2,261 places in the rankings, falling from 17th in 1998 all the way to 2,278th in 2025. Shannon and Danielle weren’t far behind, each slipping more than a thousand spots.

The boys’list tells a similar story. Connor, once a top-10 favorite, plummeted 288 places to 299th, while Callum and Jordan both tumbled from the top 10 into the 200s. It’s a strange twist considering how thoroughly’90s culture has taken over fashion, music, and TV in recent years. The nostalgia is everywhere, just not in the nursery.

Instead, today’s parents are reaching for names like Olivia and Liam, along with more unusual picks like Kasai and Klarity.
