Stevie Wonder Releases Four Unreleased Songs From 'Songs in the Key of Life' Sessions

Stevie Wonder just gave fans a gift five decades in the making. On Sept. 28, he released a four-track EP of previously unheard songs from the original 1976Songs in the Key of Lifesessions. Wonder hand-picked each track, and the album’s original engineers, John Fischback and Gary Olazabal, handled the new mixes. The EP includes“It’s Easier,”“My Life Story of Love,”“I Can See the Sun in Late December,”and“I’m Into Livin’.”

The timing makes it even sweeter.Songs in the Key of Lifedebuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, took home Album of the Year at the 1977 Grammys, and spun off two chart-topping Hot 100 hits:“I Wish”and“Sir Duke.”It’s still one of the most celebrated albums ever made, and these new tracks offer a rare peek into Wonder’s creative process during that era.

There’s more to come, too. Wonder’s 50th Anniversary Tour launches Oct. 13 in Birmingham, U.K., and arrives at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 19, with the full double album performed live at every stop. Which track from the new EP are you most excited to hear? Let us know in the comments.
