Spotify's New Setting Keeps Kids' Music Out of Your Wrapped for Good

Spotify just solved a problem every parent with a shared account knows too well. A new setting, which rolled out Tuesday, September 15, keeps kids and family music from shaping your personal taste profile. Nursery rhymes, movie soundtracks, and TV themes still play just fine, they just stop counting toward your recommendations and your year-end Wrapped. The feature is on by default and available globally on mobile for both Free and Premium users, so a quick trip to Settings under Content and display is all it takes.

The retroactive part is what has everyone talking. Past streams of kids’music get removed from your top songs and artists, which means last year’s Wrapped might have looked very different if this had existed sooner. Your Discover Weekly and Daily Mix also stop pulling from that toddler listening data, so your recommendations finally reflect what you actually choose to play. You can still search, play, and add any of those songs to playlists, so nothing is taken away from your kids.

This fits into a bigger push from Spotify toward family controls and managed accounts, as streaming services figure out that one household often means several very different listeners.
