South Park Creators Apologize for the Kendrick Lamar Movie Delay, Still No Release Date

Matt Stone and Trey Parker have issued a public apology for the long delay on their live-action comedy with Kendrick Lamar. The film was first announced back in early 2022, and it’s been pushed back multiple times, most recently from a spring 2026 window. There is still no replacement release date.

The project now has a working title,“Whitney Springs,”and it’s in production at Paramount. Reports say the plot may have shifted to focus on a Black slave reenactor clashing with a racist Midwestern mayor, and that Lamar has recorded several new songs for the film. In their statement, Stone and Parker said they take“full responsibility for the schedule delay,”thanked pgLang and Paramount for their patience, and added that while“South Park and life’s circumstances have gotten in the way,”they still believe in the project.

So the good news is that it’s alive, the partnership is intact, and new Kendrick music is reportedly sitting in a vault somewhere.
