Soulja Boy is thinking bigger than another album cycle. On Saturday, the rapper born DeAndre Cortez Way posted on Instagram teasing a 2028 presidential run, complete with the slogan“SOULJA BOY 2028.”He described it as“a new chapter”and“a bigger vision,”writing that from music to business to technology, he’s“always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible.”

The post outlines four focus areas: economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and AI. What it doesn’t include is anything resembling policy specifics, a campaign team, or a formal filing. It’s unclear whether he plans to actually run or is simply testing the waters. It’s also not his first brush with presidential politics: he performed at the Crypto Ball during Trump’s January 2025 inauguration festivities, and a January 2019 SNL sketch imagined him running for president, which he shared at the time.

So what do we do with this? We talk about it. Celebrity candidates blur the line between publicity and politics, and every tease like this one sparks a bigger question about who gets taken seriously in a race for office. Soulja Boy didn’t answer that question. He just asked it, and let the internet do the rest.

Would you actually tune in to a Soulja Boy campaign announcement, or is this one for the group chat?
