Sofia Franklyn is telling a story she admits still feels wrong to share. In a Vanity Fair essay excerpting her memoir Daddy Issues, the 34-year-old podcaster revealed she had an abortion in 2023 at age 30, two days before a family trip to Europe. She wrote that she went to Planned Parenthood after a work trip to California, then boarded that flight while her body was still adjusting.
The part she wants listeners to hear is what came after. Franklyn said the physical and hormonal toll left her feeling unrecognizable for weeks, and that all she had to go on were Reddit threads and an off-handed comment from a friend about checking her hormones. She said she hopes going public frees her from the self-imposed exile and shame she’s carried since.
It’s the latest chapter for a host who left Call Her Daddy in 2021 after Alex Cooper signed a solo Barstool deal, then built Sofia With an F and married John Messamore. Daddy Issues: A Memoir arrives Tuesday, November 10. Do you think celebrities should share stories this personal, or is some of it better kept private?
