Snoop Dogg’s life story is officially headed to theaters. Universal Pictures has set“Snoop”for a U.S. release on Aug. 6, 2027, with Craig Brewer directing and Brian Grazer producing alongside Snoop. The project was announced at CinemaCon in April, and the casting news has been rolling out ever since.

Jonathan Daviss will portray Snoop, while Myles Bullock takes on Dr. Dre, Camron Jones plays 2Pac, Tre Hale steps in as Suge Knight, and Cynthia Erivo plays Afeni Shakur. Lauren London rounds out the announced cast as Snoop’s mother, Beverly Tate. The film follows Snoop’s rise from Long Beach to Death Row Records and global fame, and Snoop has said it’s his turn after his collaborators told their story in Straight Outta Compton.

The casting has already sparked plenty of debate online, from whether Daviss fits the role to how the film will handle the East Coast-West Coast era. With Snoop’s career now spanning music, TV and even Olympics commentary, this one has crossover appeal written all over it. Which casting choice are you most curious about? Sound off in the comments.
