Selma Blair Arrested on Delta Flight: Biting, a Plane Door, and Two Assault Charges

Selma Blair was arrested on a Delta flight bound for JFK on Sunday after an incident that sources say started with her trying to open an aircraft door mid-air. According to reports, she then punched one flight attendant and bit another, sending one crew member to the hospital. She was restrained on board and taken into custody when the plane landed.

That wasn’t the end of it. Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority officer in the head while in the ambulance and assaulted a nurse at the hospital, leading to two assault charges. She remains hospitalized for evaluation as the FBI investigates. Her representative says she experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct and that she is now in stable condition.

The story has exploded online for another reason too: Blair has previously spoken about biting people, including a story about biting a fellow celebrity and describing it as playful. That detail has fueled a lot of the conversation as people debate medical crisis versus accountability, and what airlines owe their crews.

What do you think? Does a medical emergency change how you view the charges? Sound off in the comments.
