A group of marmot researchers at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory just did something no one saw coming. They created an OnlyFans page called‘OnlyMarms’to help fund their 65-year study of yellow-bellied marmots. Since 1962, these scientists have been tracking the little ground squirrels in Colorado, but a tough funding environment forced them to get creative. The page features G-rated content — think cute videos of marmots playing, digging, and eating — and it’s already getting attention for all the right reasons.
The mastermind behind the posts is Emily Renkey, a first-year grad student at UCLA, who says she just posts the videos she thinks will get the most“aws.”So far, the page has only raised a few hundred dollars, enough to buy bait for the study. But the team isn’t giving up. They’re also hosting‘Fat Marmot Week’starting August 24th, where fans can vote on the chubbiest ground squirrel. It’s a fun, quirky way to draw attention to real science that matters.
So what do you think? Would you ever subscribe to a G-rated OnlyFans for cute animals and science? Let us know in the comments.
