Savannah Chrisley's Husband Wants $2.17 Million Back, and It Was Meant for His Fraud Victims

Jason Galanis, the husband of reality TV star Savannah Chrisley, is appealing a judge’s ruling that denied him access to $2.17 million in confiscated funds that the government planned to distribute to the victims of his fraud schemes. He argues the money came from real estate purchased before his crimes and that President Trump’s March 2025 commutation eliminated his restitution obligation. Prosecutors counter that the funds became government property long before the commutation. A federal appeals court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

The numbers here are hard to ignore. Galanis was ordered to pay about $80.46 million in restitution, and while incarcerated he paid just $1,824.84. Judge P. Kevin Castel denied his request in June 2025, which led to this appeal. It’s still unclear whether the $2.17 million has been distributed to victims yet.

Meanwhile, Galanis secretly married Savannah Chrisley on July 14, and the couple is expecting a child, which means this legal drama is unfolding right alongside a very public new chapter for the Chrisley family. The case raises a bigger question about whether a commutation should ever let a convicted fraudster reclaim money intended for the people he harmed. Do you think the victims should get that money, or does Galanis have a legitimate claim? Sound off in the comments.
