Sandra Bullock is one of the biggest stars on the planet, but her early days in New York were far from glamorous. In a new Interview magazine conversation with Jennifer Aniston, Bullock said she auditioned for“every pervert that existed”while working as a waitress, and one audition even included a request to drop her pants on the spot. She says the fear of never working again kept her from walking away, and that fear pushed her to keep climbing.

That climb led to some of the most beloved roles of the last thirty years. Bullock became the queen of romantic comedies, then made a deliberate choice to step back from the genre, a pivot she credits to the 2004 film“Crash.”The move paid off with an Oscar for“The Blind Side”and another nomination for“Gravity.”Now, she says she’s ready to return to her comedy roots with a mission:“Some people want to bring sexy back. We’re going to bring the funny back.”

Her timing couldn’t be better.“Practical Magic 2,”the long-awaited sequel reuniting her with Nicole Kidman, arrived in theaters September 10. It’s a nostalgic reunion for fans of the original and a fresh start for a star entering her comedy comeback era.

Which Sandra Bullock era is your favorite: the rom-com queen, the dramatic powerhouse, or whatever she does next? Sound off in the comments.
