Salma Hayek found the ultimate Halloween inspiration in her own inner circle. Over the weekend, she attended Vas J Morgan and Michael Braun’s“Hockey Halloween Bash”dressed as Piña, the character Penélope Cruz plays in the A24 film“The Invite.”The look came complete with a bright blond bob and bangs, a major switch from her signature dark hair, plus a black silk button-down, jeans, and a black leather jacket. Her makeup artist, Pablo Maciasr, shared the reveal on Instagram Sunday.

What makes the costume more than just a great photo op is the history behind it. Hayek and Cruz have been close friends for 30 years, yet they’ve only appeared together in one film: 2006’s“Bandidas.”Dressing as her friend’s character is a full-circle moment for a friendship that has stayed strong through decades of Hollywood life. Cruz has not publicly commented on the tribute yet.

Fans are already speculating about whether Cruz will respond with a costume of her own next year, and honestly, the pressure is on.“The Invite,”which also stars Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen, and Ed Norton, gives her plenty of material to work with. Would you rather dress as your best friend’s favorite character or have them dress as yours? Tell us in the comments.
