Ryan Reynolds' Unsealed Texts Call Justin Baldoni a "Predator and Sociopath" — Inside the New Court Documents

Newly unsealed court documents obtained by Page Six have pulled the“It Ends With Us”saga right back into the spotlight. The filings include private text messages Ryan Reynolds sent to author Colleen Hoover in August 2024, during the film’s promotional rollout. In them, Reynolds calls Justin Baldoni a“predator and sociopath,”writing that it amazes him the entire production could distance itself from someone he describes that way while the narrative lands on a woman instead. He also mocked Baldoni’s crisis PR strategy, imagining a team telling him to talk about domestic violence and how wonderful Blake Lively is while they handle the online response.

The messages arrive against a long legal backdrop. Blake Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni in December 2024, which he denied. Baldoni then filed a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds and their PR team, and that suit was dismissed in June 2025. In May 2026, Lively and the remaining defendants reached a settlement. A source close to Reynolds says his focus throughout was protecting his wife from a crisis PR team that had been hired against her.

So much of this story now comes down to what was said in private versus what ends up in a filing. Screenshots do not have tone, context or nuance, but they do have permanence, and that is exactly what makes them so magnetic for anyone following along. Was Reynolds out of line, or was he saying what any partner would say behind closed doors? Sound off in the comments and tell us where you land.
