A London jury convicted Russell Brand Thursday of one rape charge and three counts of sexual assault following a three-week trial. He was found not guilty of two other rape charges and one count of attempted indecent assault. Brand has been remanded in custody, with sentencing scheduled for Monday.

The verdict arrived alongside a newly released police interview from December 2023, in which Brand told officers he led a“very promiscuous life”and had“countless sexual encounters,”while maintaining he“never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity.”He also told police that consent is“fundamental, essential, necessary, and indeed in many ways more important than sex itself.”

Beyond Monday’s sentencing, the Met Police is investigating two additional rape accusations against Brand, including one involving a 16-year-old. He denied all allegations before and during the trial. How are you processing this one? Let us know.
