Rosalía is returning to Saturday Night Live this weekend, and the promo she just dropped is already living rent-free in everyone’s head. In the clip, Kenan Thompson pitches a string of ideas to host Shane Gillis, only to discover that Gillis and Rosalía have already done them all. The moment that broke the internet: Kenan suggests blending pop and classical in 14 languages, and Rosalía casually replies,“That’s LUX, my album. I already made that. Sorry.”
She wasn’t exaggerating. LUX, her fourth studio album, was recorded in 13 languages with full orchestral production, and it debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. It also hit No. 1 on five charts, including Top Latin Albums, Classical Albums, Classical Crossover Albums and World Albums. A pop artist topping the classical chart is rare territory, and LUX pulled it off.
Now Rosalía heads back to Studio 8H for her second musical guest stint on the Oct. 10 episode, hosted by Shane Gillis.
