Chad Lowe and Kim Painter are mourning their 13-year-old daughter Fiona, who died by suicide last Tuesday. Fiona was the middle of three sisters and, in her family’s words, a loving girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance. Their statement called her the light of their lives.

Over the weekend, Rob Lowe’s youngest son John Owen Lowe, 30, shared Emily Dickinson’s poem“Hope Is the Thing With Feathers”on his Instagram Stories. The poem describes hope as a small bird that lives inside you and never asks anything in return. Fiona’s older sister Mabel, 17, also posted a tribute, writing that she will honor Fiona’s memory forever.

The family is asking anyone who is struggling with their mental health to contact the Suicide&Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. It’s free, confidential, and available 24/7. If you or someone you love needs support, please reach out tonight.

What’s one way you check in on the people you love?
