Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, Rachel Uchitel is making sure the world doesn’t forget her fiancé Andy O’Grady. The two met in 1998, got engaged in August 2001, and were planning a life together when the towers came down. O’Grady was a managing director at Sandler O’Neill, working on the 104th floor of Tower 2. He was 32 years old. Uchitel was a producer at Bloomberg at the time, covering the attacks live while on the phone with him as his building fell.

In the days that followed, she searched hospitals and Ground Zero looking for him. A photograph of her holding his missing person flyer ran in newspapers worldwide, becoming one of the most recognizable images of that era. That photo ensured millions of people would know Andy’s name and remember him as more than a number in the staggering loss count.

For the 25th anniversary, Uchitel posted a tribute video and message on Instagram. She remembered the moment she watched his building fall and couldn’t catch her breath, and wrote, quote,“It was the honor of my life to have been loved by James Andrew O’Grady.”What’s the one image from 9/11 that has stayed with you for 25 years?
