Queen Latifah is joining“The Voice”as a coach for season 30, but she didn’t walk into those red chairs without doing her homework. Before signing on, she called former coach and EGOT winner John Legend for advice. He reassured her she was there for the right reasons, and that confidence has clearly carried over into the blind auditions.

How well is it going? Latifah says she’s“dominating the blinds,”a title she never expected to earn. Kelly Clarkson backed that up, saying the coaches lost a lot of contestants to Queen Latifah. When a rookie coach is pulling team members away from Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine, that’s a statement.

Season 30 brings Clarkson and Levine back alongside new coach Riley Green, and it all kicks off with a three-night premiere starting Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and streaming on Peacock. Latifah also gets inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November, capping off a massive year. So which coach are you backing this season?
