Prince Harry reportedly received $100,000 for his MasterClass on grief, and his spokesman confirmed MasterClass paid him for it. The course,“Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss,”is co-taught with neuroscientist Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor. For the record, six-figure upfront pay is standard for MasterClass instructors, who also typically earn around 30 percent of subscription revenue.

Inside the course, Harry gets deeply personal. He was 12 when Princess Diana died in the 1997 Paris car crash. He says he speaks to her portrait and feels connected to her. He describes being“emotionally numb”for years, feeling depressed and“useless”after stepping back from royal duties in 2020, and panic attacks tied to his official duties that kept him from grieving properly.

That’s the part that’s actually landing with people. Grief and men’s mental health rarely get this kind of spotlight. But the paycheck is what everyone’s arguing about. Is sharing your hardest story a public service or a product? Does the money change whether the message counts? We want to know where you land.
