One of rock music’s most memorable feuds is about to reach a major crossroads. Phil Collins and Oasis are both being inducted into the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame in 2026, and Collins just revealed that he’s preparing for an awkward encounter at the pre-ceremony lunch. For decades, these two camps have been taking shots at each other. Noel Gallagher famously called Collins“the antichrist of music”in the 2016 documentary“Supersonic”and made extremely harsh statements about wanting Collins out of the picture. Collins fired back in 2005, calling Oasis“rude, horrible,”and less talented than they believed themselves to be.

What makes this whole situation even more entertaining is Collins’response to the drama. Instead of staying bitter, he’s developed a genuinely funny theory about why Noel hates him so much. According to Collins, Noel probably got spooked by Genesis’“Mama”performance at a concert in the eighties, complete with dramatic lighting and theatrical elements. Collins is essentially suggesting that the song scared Noel so much it stuck with him for decades. The drummer and solo artist seems to be approaching the Rock Hall of Fame meeting with humor and an open mind, even giving Noel the benefit of the doubt about whether he truly believes the“antichrist”comment.

The 2026 Rock Hall of Fame induction is historic in multiple ways. Six British acts are being honored this year, breaking the previous record of five in 2019. Beyond Collins and Oasis, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan are all joining the hall. With all these legends together in one room, the pre-ceremony lunch should be absolutely unforgettable. So the real question is: will Collins and the Gallagher brothers actually bury the hatchet, or will the tension be too thick to overcome? What do you think will happen when they finally come face-to-face?
