Pete Davidson Calls Himself a 'Survivor' of Dating Kim Kardashian: 'We're Like the Marines'

Pete Davidson is looking back on his nine months with Kim Kardashian, and his summary is basically a war story. In a new Variety interview, the comedian said men who date Kardashians are“the few and the proud,”adding,“I’m one of the survivors. We’re like the Marines.”The two met when Kim hosted SNL in late 2021 and split in August 2022.

By Pete’s account, the lifestyle was the hard part. The endless attention, the security, and his own struggles with mental health and drugs at the time made it overwhelming. Then came Kanye West, who posted threats and released a music video where a Claymation version of Pete gets beheaded. Pete said the“kill yourself”messages pushed him, but he still has empathy for West, in part because Pete lost his own father, a firefighter, when he was just seven.

He also kept his sense of humor intact. Pete joked that he“cleared the path”for Kim to get back into the dating pool. Whoever gets that job next, we hope they’re ready.
