Perez Hilton is focusing on his recovery. The blogger and media personality, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr., has been in a residential treatment program since he was hospitalized following a suicide attempt on Aug. 4. He spent over a month in the hospital recovering from serious injuries, and he’s expected to remain in treatment for several more weeks.
While he’s away, his three children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, are in the care of his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, who filed for temporary custody on Aug. 12 with his consent. Hilton has also been granted supervised visitations with his kids. To help ease the financial load, his longtime friend, Tony-winning producer Tom D’Angora, launched a GoFundMe with a $25,000 goal. Every dollar goes to Hilton’s mother and children, covering the costs of caring for three kids full-time while their grandmother puts her own life on hold.
D’Angora says Hilton“entered a residential treatment program where he can focus fully on his mental health and recovery.”If you or someone you know is struggling, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7.
