Paul McCartney stopped by“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”Friday and shared a detail from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding that nobody saw coming. When Swift asked him to perform at the New York City celebration, her request was The Beatles’1964 hit“I Want to Hold Your Hand.”McCartney didn’t just sing it. He told Swift she should sing along and direct the song to her new husband.

The song choice carries serious weight.“I Want to Hold Your Hand”was The Beatles’first US number one and the track that helped ignite Beatlemania after their Ed Sullivan Show appearance. So Swift, the biggest pop star of her generation, chose the song that essentially invented modern music fandom. McCartney’s take?“Taylor is very good. She’s very clever.”

Page Six previously reported that after the vows, Swift’s mother Andrea invited guests into the reception room, where McCartney performed. Stevie Nicks is also said to have taken the stage that night. McCartney and Swift have been friends for years and even shared a Rolling Stone cover, which makes this feel less like a booking and more like a genuine favor between friends.

If you could request one song from a legend at your wedding, what would it be? Tell us in the comments.
