Olivia Rodrigo Says AI in Music Is a "Hard Line" She Won't Cross

Olivia Rodrigo isn’t interested in letting AI anywhere near her music. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the pop star said she would“never use AI in any of my music,”calling it a hard line. She even admitted that she and producer Dan Nigro once got curious and asked ChatGPT what it would suggest for an Olivia Rodrigo song title. Her verdict on the results:“awful.”

Her comments arrive during a heated moment for the music industry. The AI music platform Suno recently admitted it trained its models using YouTube audio, and musician Jason Isbell has filed suit against the company over its use of artists’styles and identities. Not everyone is on the same page, though. Dr. Dre has publicly embraced AI as a tool, showing just how split the industry really is on the technology.

Rodrigo, meanwhile, has plenty of her own material to work with. She released her third album back in June and is currently out on her Unraveled Tour. Her stance makes it clear where she stands: the human side of songwriting is the whole point. So we want to know what you think. Should artists be allowed to train AI on real music, or should it be hands off?
