Noah Kahan is officially the next artist in one of pop’s most exclusive lineups.“Draw You Out,”his new song with Aaron Dessner, arrives Friday, October 2 as the lead single from the Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping soundtrack. The list of past Hunger Games lead singles includes Taylor Swift’s“Safe&Sound,”Lorde’s“Yellow Flicker Beat,”Coldplay’s“Atlas”and Olivia Rodrigo’s“Can’t Catch Me Now.”Kahan now sits right alongside them.

The timing gives fans a full season of new music. The soundtrack drops November 13, and the film, a prequel set during the 50th Hunger Games and focused on a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, hits theaters November 20.“Draw You Out”is also Kahan’s first new release since The Great Divide topped the Billboard 200, so it’s a first look at wherever he’s headed next.

Kahan hasn’t been shy about the song’s mood. He told Billboard,“It is sad, but you’re not really coming to me if you’re looking for heartwarming,”and explained he wanted to find parts of himself in the character. Given he’s read all the books and seen all the movies, this one comes from a real fan.
