The Nikon Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is celebrating its tenth anniversary, and it’s doing it in the most over-the-top way possible. Starting 12 September, Frameless in London hosts an immersive experience featuring 91 of the competition’s funniest images, projected at full scale across seven natural habitats. Spatial sound adds waves, rustling grass, and other ambient audio, so visitors walk through the images rather than just viewing them.
The lineup includes crowd favourites like the laughing dormouse by Andrea Zampatti, the happy turtle by Tzahi Finkelstein, and Petr Sochman’s“Social distance, please!”Some of the shots have been internet icons for years, and seeing them blown up to room size is a different experience entirely.
The anniversary show also highlights what the awards have quietly accomplished for a decade: using humour to spark interest in biodiversity conservation. You laugh at a grinning turtle, and somewhere along the way you start caring about the habitat it came from. The show runs at Frameless in London, and if you’re planning an autumn trip, it might be worth adding to the list. Which of these funny wildlife photos would you hang on your own wall?
