Nicki Minaj's $230K Legal Bill Just Came Due

When you’re fighting copyright battles, someone’s gotta pay the lawyers—and if that someone is Nicki Minaj, the bill apparently keeps piling up. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the law firm Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP is now suing the rapper over an unpaid tab of $229,541 for legal work performed way back in 2024.

Here’s the backstory: the firm took on Nicki’s case to defend her against copyright infringement allegations in a separate lawsuit. They did the work. They sent the invoices. And then…nothing. The firm says Nicki never responded to their lawsuit, which led to a default judgment in the case. Now the court will weigh in on whether to formally enter that default judgment at a hearing scheduled for September.

This isn’t the first time financial obligations have caught up with her. Just a few months ago, back in March, Nicki found herself on the receiving end of another suit—this one from a production company demanding $275,000 for work related to concert reimbursements. Two major lawsuits in the span of a few months suggests either a pattern or a particularly messy period in her business affairs.

The irony here is sharp: the entertainer was being defended in one legal matter when the defenders themselves had to become plaintiffs. It’s a cautionary tale wrapped in a very expensive lesson about keeping tabs on who’s working for you and what they’re owed. Whether Nicki responds before September’s hearing will tell us whether this is an oversight or something more deliberate. Either way, the bill always comes due eventually.
