A new biography about Kim Kardashian contains a 2018 story that has never been told publicly until now. In‘Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future,’journalist Jonathan Van Meter writes that a‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’shoot in Uganda escalated when Kanye West became convinced people were trying to drug him and convinced local police of the same. According to executive producer Farnaz Farjam, officers raided the crew’s rooms with guns drawn, and at one point a policeman held a gun to Kardashian’s head. Farjam says she had to charter a private jet to get her crew out of the remote location, and she forgave West because he lives with bipolar disorder and was in a manic state.
The book also covers Kardashian’s life after the couple’s 2022 divorce. She told Van Meter she worries about West constantly and calls co-parenting with him a“big burden,”saying she’ll never stop worrying about the father of her four kids. It’s a rare, unfiltered look at the reality behind one of the most watched splits in pop culture history.
Van Meter’s book adds a dramatic chapter to a relationship the public followed for nearly a decade, and it raises bigger questions about mental health, co-parenting, and how much pressure reality TV productions put on everyone involved.
