Nathan Fielder spent three years filming Elizabeth Holmes, and the first trailer for“You Can See Everything”proves it. The A24 documentary, co-directed by Lance Oppenheim, follows the Theranos founder in the weeks before she reported to prison and kept rolling long after. It premiered unannounced at Telluride, where critics praised a late twist that Fielder has asked audiences not to spoil.
The trailer keeps things deliberately cold. Holmes says it took her a long time to be comfortable letting someone see her cry, then stares at Fielder without saying anything until a single tear falls. That’s the whole clip, and it’s somehow more unsettling than any dramatic monologue could be. The deadpan-comedian-meets-convicted-fraudster pairing is bizarre on paper and completely gripping on screen.
“You Can See Everything”lands in theaters October 16th, positioned squarely in awards-season territory. Given the Telluride reaction and A24’s track record, expect this one to dominate the conversation all fall.
