Naked Gold Trump Statue "The Orange Plague" Takes Over the European Parliament

A naked gold statue of Donald Trump just became the most photographed thing in Strasbourg. The over-eight-foot sculpture, titled“The Orange Plague”or“King of Injustice,”was unveiled at the European Parliament this week, showing the president sitting on the shoulders of a frail man while holding a golf club. Danish sculptor Jens Galschiøt covered the entire piece in 23-carat gold leaf, and a plaque on the statue jokes that he’ll do anything to help the man beneath him, except step down.

The statue arrived after Danish lawmaker Per Clausen invited the artist to bring it to Parliament, and it’s not staying put. Next month it travels to the COP31 UN climate conference in Turkey, where it will almost certainly spark a whole new round of headlines. Galschiøt has been blunt about the backlash, saying anyone too thin-skinned to handle the sculpture has no place on the world stage. The White House has yet to respond.

Love it or hate it, the piece has done what political art rarely manages anymore: it got everyone talking at once. Supporters call it sharp satire, critics call it cheap provocation, and the internet is doing its usual thing in the comments. So where do you land? Is this brilliant political art, or did the artist take it too far?
