Muse are no longer @Muse on X and Instagram. That handle now belongs to Meta’s new AI assistant, which is also named Muse. The Devon rock band moved to @Musetheband, and frontman Matt Bellamy explained exactly how it happened. Mark Zuckerberg sent him the beta version of the AI before it launched, then invited him to meet and talk it through.“He’s alright, he’s not too bad,”Bellamy said of the Meta CEO.
Bellamy agreed to the handover on one condition: the AI can’t use the Muse name for music or merchandise. He can still sell his own Muse AI T-shirts, though. For a band built on songs about surveillance, simulations, and machines running the world, leasing their identity to Big Tech is a headline that writes itself.
